SPRING 2008
Thoughts for the season from Easter Exultet by James Broughton
"...Deepen your roots, extend your branches...
Dance on a brink...You are closer to glory leaping an abyss than upholstering a rut...
Be prepared to bump into wonder...
Lift your ineffable out of the mundane...
Nothing perishes, everything transforms...
Honeymoon with Big Joy!"
At the Rustic Gate this Spring we are bumping into wonder at every turn, we are honeymooning with the joy of the spring peepers serenading us, with the geese and ducks, and canes and heron that are nesting and making our wetlands their home, with the blossoms of daffodils, tulips, and forsythia, with the anticipation of the fragrance of lilac and viburnum as they begin to pop open their buds, with deer who have shed their gray coats of autumn and winter for the tawny color of spring and summer.
The winter of 2007-08 was a particularly harsh, cold, and snowy one. We've pledged to stop upholstering the ruts that the winter's cold and darkness sank us into. May you do likewise. Go outdoors frequently this spring and do some bumping into wonder and honeymooning with the big joy of this luscious season.
Blessings to you on your journey ,
Marcia
